What are the program prerequisites?
Applicants must have completed the equivalent of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited United States college or university to be eligible for graduate study at the University of Maryland. The Smith online MBA assumes no prior knowledge or background in business. However, due to the quantitative rigors of our program, the Admissions Committee requires that admitted applicants demonstrate strong quantitative skills prior to matriculation. The Admissions Committee will review each applicant’s GMAT/GRE score, undergraduate and/or graduate (where applicable) academic performance and work experience in making this determination. If, in the opinion of the Admissions Committee, an applicant has not demonstrated strong enough quantitative skills for academic success, an admitted student may be asked in his or her admission letter to successfully complete a calculus or statistics course prior to enrolling at Smith.
Is work experience a requirement for the online MBA program?
Although work experience is not a requirement, it is highly preferred. Approximately 97 percent of the applicants offered admission have a minimum of two years of professional work experience.
How long will it take me to earn my MBA?
The online Master of Business Administration is composed of 54 credits and may be completed in as few as 21 months.
Will my degree indicate that I earned my MBA online?
No. When you complete the program, you earn a Master of Business Administration from the University of Maryland, College Park. No distinction will be made on your diploma or your official transcripts to indicate that you participated in an online program.
